The Problem

The client noticed students were abandoning text-heavy learning tools due to low retention and lack of engagement. According to Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, humans forget 70% of new information within 24 hours if not reviewed. Reading from written texts alone is an increasingly limited approach to modern study. They approached us with an innovative idea to build AI solutions for education that help learners absorb complex concepts.

Learners retain information more effectively when they can engage with their material aurally. The client’s vision extended beyond straightforward audio playback. They wanted a platform that could also translate study content from unfamiliar languages into each learner’s preferred language, creating a seamless bridge between comprehension and memorisation.

The brief

The client shared their vision for the app and its capabilities. We converted that brief into a focused and purposeful requirement document, covering six core capabilities:

The solution

During PDF content extraction, text was frequently distorted, with characters omitted, words fragmented, character order altered, and pronunciation errors introduced into the generated audio. Rather than relying solely on the PDF reading system, we introduced a dedicated Arabic language processing layer to address these issues at source. The process worked as follows:

  • Text was first extracted from the PDF through the standard pipeline.
  • Before audio generation, a correction stage cleaned and restructured the Arabic content by repairing letter connections, preserving correct reading direction, merging fragmented text segments, and refining punctuation and spacing.
  • Once validated, the audio file was generated once and cached for subsequent playback to eliminate redundant processing and ensure consistency across sessions.

This approach delivered measurably more natural pronunciation, significantly reduced spelling and reading errors, and provided a consistent, high-quality Arabic audio experience across both Android and iOS platforms.
